The Short Version (For People Who Don’t Like Reading)
We’re travel nerds who got tired of clickbait articles that promise “10 AMAZING things!” and deliver garbage.
So we made this: Real travel information. No fluff. No fake hype.
You want to know if Route 66 is actually worth the hype? We’ll tell you.
You want the real cost of a California road trip? We’ve got spreadsheets.
You want to know which neighborhood in Chicago won’t drain your wallet? Keep reading.
What we do: Write honest travel guides for the USA
What we don’t do: Waste your time with listicles that could’ve been an email
The Longer Version (For People Who Actually Want to Know)
How This Started
Picture this: Three friends, a terrible road trip, and one very bad hotel that claimed to be “near downtown” (it wasn’t).
That hotel was 40 minutes from anything worth seeing. The “complimentary breakfast” was stale bagels and regret. And that’s when we realized: most travel content on the internet is written by people who’ve never actually been there.
They copy each other. They use stock photos. They tell you a restaurant is “must-visit” when it closed three years ago.
We got annoyed. So we fixed it.
USAtripvibe started as a simple idea: What if travel guides actually told you the truth?
- Real costs (not “budget-friendly” when it costs $300/day)
- Real drive times (Google Maps says 3 hours, reality is 5 with stops)
- Real hotel recommendations (not just whoever pays the most in ads)
- Real food suggestions (actual local spots, not tourist traps)
What Makes Us Different
1. We Actually Go There
Revolutionary concept, right? If we write about a destination, someone on our team has been there. We don’t copy-paste from other websites. We don’t rely on press releases from tourism boards.
We drive the roads. We stay in the hotels. We eat the food. We get lost. We find cool stuff. Then we write about it.
2. We Tell You When Something Sucks
Not everything is “amazing” and “must-see.” Some attractions are overrated. Some restaurants are tourist traps. Some scenic drives are just… highways.
We’ll tell you. Because your time and money matter.
3. We Do the Math
“Budget-friendly” means different things to different people. So we give you actual numbers:
- This hotel costs $120/night
- This rental car is $45/day
- Gas for this route will run you ~$80
- You’ll spend about $200/day total for 2 people
Then YOU decide if it fits your budget. Crazy idea, we know.
4. We Keep It Updated
Restaurants close. Road construction happens. Prices change. Fires close national parks.
We update our guides regularly with current information. See something outdated? Email us. We’ll fix it.
5. We’re Not Trying to Sell You a Timeshare
We write travel guides. That’s it.
We’re not a travel agency. We won’t call you. We won’t plan your trip for you (unless you pay us, and we don’t offer that service, so… we won’t plan your trip for you).
You read. You decide. You book. You go. You have a great time because you were actually prepared.
Who We Are (The Humans Behind the Keyboards)
Our Team
We’re writers, photographers, former travel agents, road trip addicts, and people who’ve spent way too much time optimizing Google Maps routes.
What we have in common:
- We love exploring the USA
- We hate bad travel advice
- We’re weirdly passionate about accurate drive times
- We think MapQuest’s death was a tragedy
- We will fight you about the best BBQ state (respectfully)
What we don’t agree on:
- Best coast (East vs. West war continues)
- Whether Route 66 is overrated (it’s a heated debate)
- If In-N-Out is actually that good (Californians say yes, everyone else is suspicious)
- Chicago deep-dish: pizza or casserole? (Don’t start this argument)
Our Content Philosophy
We believe:
✅ Honesty over hype – Not everything is “the best” or “you HAVE to see this!”
✅ Useful over pretty – We’d rather give you the actual hotel price than show you 47 sunset photos
✅ Complete over clickbait – “10 things in NYC!” means nothing. We give you the full picture.
✅ Accessible over elitist – Travel isn’t just for Instagram influencers with unlimited budgets
✅ Reality over fantasy – Yes, national parks are beautiful. They’re also crowded in summer and you need reservations.
We don’t believe in:
❌ Hiding costs until the end
❌ Calling everything “hidden gems” (if it’s on the internet, it’s not hidden)
❌ Pretending budget travel is easy (it takes planning!)
❌ Writing for search engines instead of humans
❌ Recommending places we’ve never been
❌ Stock photos of happy families that don’t actually help you plan anything

How We Make Money (Because Honesty)
The truth: Running a website costs money. Writing detailed guides takes time. Research isn’t free.
How we cover costs:
We use affiliate links. This means:
- If you book a hotel through our link, we might earn a small commission
- If you rent a car through our link, we might earn a commission
- If you buy something we recommend, we might earn a commission
What this means for you:
- Same price – You pay the exact same amount whether you use our link or go direct
- Sometimes cheaper – We sometimes have exclusive deals
- Zero pressure – Use our links or don’t. We’re cool either way.
What this means for us:
- We can keep writing guides
- We can keep updating information
- We can keep the site running
- We can eat (food is good)
Our promise:
- We only recommend stuff we genuinely think is good
- We’ll tell you when something is overpriced even if we earn commission
- We disclose all affiliate relationships
- We’ll never lie to you for a commission

Our Standards
What We Research
Before we write about a destination:
- Someone on our team visits (or has recently visited)
- We check current prices (not 2019 prices)
- We verify businesses are still open
- We test recommendations (yes, we eat the food)
- We drive the routes (Google Maps lies sometimes)
What We Update
- Prices (quarterly review)
- Closures (ongoing)
- New openings (as we find them)
- Road conditions (seasonally)
- Major changes (immediately)
What We Don’t Do
- Copy content from other sites
- Use AI to write entire guides (we’re humans, hi!)
- Recommend places we haven’t researched
- Ignore reader feedback
- Leave outdated information up
- Pretend to be experts on places we’ve never been
Things We Want You to Know
We’re Not Perfect
We make mistakes. Prices change faster than we can update them. Restaurants close without warning. Road construction appears overnight.
If you spot an error: Please tell us! → info(@)usatripvibe.com
We’ll fix it and thank you for making our guides better.
We Have Opinions
About BBQ. About pizza. About which coast is best. About whether Times Square is worth visiting (it’s not, but you’ll probably go anyway).
These are OUR opinions based on OUR experiences. You might disagree. That’s fine! Travel is subjective. You do you.
We’re Growing
We started with a few cities. We’re adding more all the time.
Can’t find your destination yet? Check back soon or email us suggestions: info(@)usatripvibe.com
We Read Your Comments
Seriously. Every email. Every comment. Every message.
We might not respond to all of them (there are only so many hours in a day), but we read them. And they help us improve.
What We’re NOT
Let’s be crystal clear:
❌ We’re not a travel agency – We don’t book trips for you
❌ We’re not a tour company – We don’t run tours
❌ We’re not customer service for hotels/airlines – Can’t help with your Marriott reservation, sorry
❌ We’re not a booking platform – We just write about stuff and link to booking sites
❌ We’re not travel influencers – We don’t do it for the ‘gram (though our Instagram exists)
❌ We’re not trying to sell you anything – Except maybe the idea that good travel info exists
We ARE:
✅ Content creators who love travel
✅ Researchers who verify information
✅ Writers who explain things clearly
✅ Road trip enthusiasts (possibly addicted)
✅ People who think travel should be accessible and honest

Why “USAtripvibe”?
Honestly? We needed a domain name and everything good was taken.
But also: We wanted something that captured the feeling of American road trips—the vibe of hitting the open road, discovering new places, and having adventures without overthinking it.
Plus, “HonestTravelInfoThatDoesntSuck.com” was too long.
